Hello, wonderful people!

This is stitch, and I am ready to give you some of the goods you’ve requested.  I will apologize for the wait.  We wanted to keep the updates diverse and the music updates were outnumbering the others.  This is still cutting it close but I’ve wanted to show you a couple of tunes for a while now so here they are, along with the original pieces (which I encourage you to listen alongside to).

The first one was one I promised you a long time ago.  This one, I wrote during that October Fanfest a few years back.  I hope you find my version of MOTHER’s “A Ghastly Site” to be uncomfortably pleasant to listen to.

I also want to say thank you for all of your email requests, although I have some good and bad news about that to be mentioned later on.  Here is one of the tunes I randomly selected to revamp!

When I remix or revamp something, I always think it is necessary to add a creative touch of my own so that it is not just a repeat of another song with a different sound. I hope you will have an open mind for this one!  Here is the revamp of Get on the Bus:

About the emails, I started to get so much mail from many things not only concerning MOTHER 4 that I lost all of these requests and questions…but the good news is – if you still want to know something or hear a revamp/remix in the future – I advise you to tell it to me via Twitter!  I recently made a Twitter account mostly for this purpose and it will be a fun way for us to stay in touch.  So, please fly by and I’ll be here to talk and I will be taking your music requests and questions via Twitter now.

Hello, everyone!  This is “stitch,” of SNOBODYS, talkin’ ’bout music today.  I have a few tunes to share and some things to talk about!  Sit down, have a listen and let’s talk!

So, do you remember me talking about the Fanfest project some years ago?  During that time a good handful of music was created, including a few “remakes.”  I remade Mt. Itoi and A Ghastly Site from the first MOTHER game.  You can listen to the original Mt. Itoi right here to compare with the remake below:

I will have to post the remake of A Ghastly Site (my personal favorite) later.  For now, I would like to open up a discussion of what/how we do.  I won’t say anything yet, since the inner workings of the ways of music may only interest a select few…SO, we’re taking any questions you may have!  Please write to the M4 mailbox with all of your questions about the music, us, how we make it, influences or whatever it is you may want to know!

I am also opening up requests for song remakes of anything you may want to hear!  If you would like to hear a remix/revamp of an original MOTHER tune, let me know which one and how you want it!  Orchestrated?  Techno?  Surprise?  Please send these requests to the email adress listed above.  Thanks!

Stitch here again; that’s right I finished the piece!  Sorry it took so long, I had a lot of things going on like finding a place to live and moving in to it.  After a few minor adjustments and, of course, an ending I give all of you this mp3 for download.  Enjoy…

A Secret:

Back in ’09, some (very short) time before the annual Fanfest in October the Azure team decided to take a whack at a project for submission.  I won’t go into much detail but basically I was asked to “make this, this, and THAT, remake these, make something that would do this…” and such and such.  The project was never finished.  It might have been possible in the very short development period but we will never know.  Nevertheless I was able to cough out a handful of pieces, originals and remakes.  We may use this music in MOTHER 4 but I think it is well deserved for you awesome people to hear them since they were not originally intended for the MOTHER 4 project.

Here is one; a techno based tune called Harvest Pass.  You can imagine what the piece might be describing yourself.  Enjoy.

This is “stitch” of SNOBODYS, Lead Music and Sound Concept from the MOTHER 4 dev team.  We are finally chiming in to keep all of you wonderful people well fed with MOTHER 4 material!  I will continue to throw things like this out here every so often…

So, today I want to share with you the very first piece of music I made (for video games in general) for this project.  It is an unfinished tribute to MOTHER music.  It was only meant to be a submission to the MOTHER 4 team in 2009 to “show what we got.”  The sound quality is half-way decent but it is worth listening to since this tune will not appear in MOTHER 4 at all.  I had no intention of finishing the piece at the time and I do not know if I ever will…what do you think?

But before you freak out, there is goodish news too.

So, last night my computer decided that Windows was going to have problems and just not start. I’ve run through a bunch of recovery options and have decided that I need an actual installation disc to recover the corrupted or damaged files which are freaking it out. However, I lack an installation disc. So unhappy Dave.

But the good side to this is that I installed Ubuntu again, which is always nice. Also, everything is still in tact and my hard drive has not been corrupted or gotten dead or anything like that. Even if it did, I wouldn’t lose much because I actually keep backups of my work unlike certain other fan game projects.

Now, onto Chaisu’s problem. This one is kinda big so be prepared to cry with us. His external drive which held all of Mother 4′s concept art and earlier graphics and audio was corrupted and the data on it was lost. We’re recovering what we can from Zephys’ and my own stashes of Mother 4 goodness. We hope we can recover most of what was lost.

So yeah. These issues could set us back a little bit. In the meantime, I’ll be developing from Windows on my laptop (inconvenient) and from Ubuntu on my desktop and Chaisu will be plugging away at sprites and tiles and all that. And as always Zephys will continue to work on the story and SNOBODYS will continue to pump out their excellent tunes.

(To clarify, nothing related to the engine and no new game content was lost. So we’re okay in that respect.)

What does this mean for me, Dave!?
More compatibility! We can recompile the game to run on a number of operating systems including Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. It also means more interesting graphical effects are possible like upscaling with algorithms such as scale2x, eagle, super eagle, or hq2x! (And more!)

What does this mean for you Dave!?
It means I can be way more organized! It also means that I have almost complete control over how things work in the engine, so I can get everything I need just right.

Will I need anything more to run this now?
Nope! Everything you need will come in one package! Or an installer maybe!

I have quite a bit to say about this. First off, and this isn’t the first time I’ve said it, I love finding things like this. It’s kind of a cool feeling to be big enough that you’re finding articles and multi-page discussions about your project on other sites. Let alone the fact that there’s practically nothing negative said on this particular board.

Beyond this though, is the fact that there are alot of facts that aren’t straight. Unless someone knows something I don’t, Itoi never said that he’d do anything official with a Mother 4, and our 2010 release date is definitely not a guarantee.

There’s more, but you get the idea. In short, if you want to know something about our project, please ask the main staff of Mother 4 if you want the truth. We apologize for any vague or unanswered questions, but that’s how the development of a mother game goes. If you don’t get an answer you’re looking for, feel free to speculate, but do your best not to assume your speculations are correct.

Much love to the fans. Stay in touch people. The way things are going, this game’s bound to surprise alot of people.

On the topic of actual production, we’re making alot of progress. We’re very happy with the storyline at this point, and even have an overworld map put together. We’ve got most of the status effects youll find yourselves dealing with put together, and alot of things of the like are coming together. Thanks for your support.
